“The Boy Friend” has Opened to Fabulous Reviews!

We’ve now opened in The Boy Friend at the Menier Chocolate Factory – and we’re having such a laugh riot!

The wonderful cast and crew are all so fab, and it’s been a dream job getting to play Hortense and perform ‘It’s Nicer in Nice’ every night.

The wonderful director Matthew White (with whom I’ve done Sweet Charity and The Producers – and was also in Chicago with him way back when) and the fantastic choreographer Bill Deamer (with whom I did Shout!, Babes in Arms and the Sondheim 85th Birthday Gala at Drury Lane) have led us all on this delightful journey – and getting to twirl around on Paul Farnsworth’s beautiful set and in his glorious costumes is a such a treat.

The critics have described it variously as a “soufflé” “meringue” madeleine” “sundae” “macaron” – and all manner of other sumptuous sweet delights. The sunshine of the Riviera is just the tonic for these dark cold winter nights. Hope to see you there!

We run until March and you can get tickets here >>>

These 3-Star reviews were all very lovely about the production and the cast, but they just didn’t much feel in the mood for the frivolity of the story – nonetheless there are still some very nice gems of praise and appreciation contained in these reviews…
